Here’s a little clip of our gig at Darwin College Cambridge. Always a treat to play at any of the colleges at the University of Cambridge. Interested in having a barn dance for your party? Send us a message and we would be happy to help!

About Fen Blow

Music and dances from the English Tradition with some original material and the odd tune straying in from the Continent. The band's style of music would best be described as 'English Ceilidh'.

FEN BLOW offers an excellent evening's dancing for young or old, experts and novices alike.

The band has over thirty-three years of experience starting under the name of "Lollypops and Bullseyes". They have experience with all kinds of audiences in all types of venues, and this allows the dances to be geared to the expertise of those present.

Fen Blow English Country Barn Dance Band previously also worked under the name "The Tollhouse Band" and is based in Cambridgeshire, UK where it has a well established reputation.

What to expect

Fen Blow will provide its own PA, experienced caller and band.

All you will need to provide is space for the band, some people wanting to dance and an area for them to do so. The only other thing that the band require is a power socket.

We will take everyone through the dances slowly learning the steps before we play the tune. The complexity of the steps and the speed of the instruction is matched to the audience.

Breaks are taken between dances to allow everyone to catch their breath back before we set off again.

Bob

Ken was born at a very early age, and started playing piano early. He trained at Dartington Hall where he came across folk music. Ken taught in primary schools where he encouraged folk dancing, and joined the band as a brass player in 1986.

Ken is now the caller and keyboard player.

Mark is a full time musician and songwriter well versed in entertaining people all throughout the land. Marks songwriting has seen him published by BMG and as well as many weddings and parties Mark has also entertained at big brand events for companies such Diesel, The Perfume Shop, and Hilton Hotels.

Steve joined the band in 2016 as a temporary fill in on Bass. He continued to fill in when needed on both guitar and bass over the next couple of years, until it was finally accepted that Steve's role in the band was not as temporary as first planned.

In 2019 a lineup changed gave Steve the challenge to pick up the Mandolin where he now sits.

Calvin is the most recent band member, having joined to take on bass duty when Steve moved over to playing Mandolin. When not playing bass in Fen Blow or in one of his other projects, Calvin often may be found lurking behind random sound desks around his home town of Cambridge

Bob is probably one of the most reliable members of the band having never missed a single rehearsal let alone gig. His playing is constant, and a reboot fixes any of his issues.

The musicians above are our usual players, however the band can and does perform with other musicians and in different numbers.
